Learn the Art of Sailing and Seamanship

Sailing training for individuals and small groups

We offer sail training based on the Richmond River in Ballina and the Tweed River from Chinderah. We offer individual bespoke training is seamanship, navigation and race training, as well as group classes and sailing camps.

Develop confidence, teamwork and communication skills

Sailing involves much more that just steering the boat. Sailors develop skills in areas as diverse as radio communications, map reading and tying knots, as well as team work and positive leadership. Learning to become a sailor is more than just a hobby, it is a lifestyle!

Connect to nature: river, ocean, wind and more.

Sailing offers an incredibly unique and timeless means for a person(s) to be; a part of and connected to nature. To sail one is directly apart of: the river and ocean, the tide, the local and larger scale wind cycles, the fluctuating sand bars, the clouds and storms and the list goes on. There’s a modern revival of the inherent importance of nature connection and many associated benefits to ourselves. Contrary to pursuing various tasks to eventually find nature connection. Sailing in it’s default functioning allows us access to that sense of being apart of the time, space and context of the waterway, there is not choice but to be apart of it all.

“Matt taught me so much about sailing, by the end of our course I could comfortably skipper a small boat which I never thought I could do! Matt is a great teacher, he had lots of tips and was super insightful, but I think the best bit was that he was really easygoing and made it all a lot of fun.
